The Unholy Alliance: Far-Right and Far-Left Mourn a Tyrant While Iranians Dance
As the joint US-Israel operation dismantles the head of the global terror snake, a coalition of Western extremists is mourning the fall of Ali Khamenei, even as Iranians rejoice in the streets
In a historic operation that has fundamentally reshaped the Middle East, the U.S. and Israel launched a striking blow against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Dubbed Operation Epic Fury in America and Operation Roaring Lion in Israel, the strikes reportedly neutralized 40 top leaders of the Iranian regime in just 60 seconds, decapitating the IRGC command structure and leading to the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
While the streets of Tehran and Mashhad are filled with citizens singing, lighting fireworks, and dancing in celebration, an alliance of democratic socialists, far-right influencers, and Islamist organizations has formed a unified front to condemn the collapse of the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

The “Christlamist” Convergence: CAIR and the Far-Right
In what some commentators have described as a “Christlamist” alliance, Islamist organizations such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) have found unexpected allies in a segment of far-right influencers, from Tucker Carlson to former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, in defending the Iranian regime. For example, CAIR’s national office shared a post from former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to bolster its anti-war narrative.
Greene had slammed the operation, criticizing the strike and asking, “WTF are you insane people doing???” CAIR quote tweeted the sentiment, praising the former congresswoman saying, “As with the Gaza genocide, [Majorie Taylor Greene] is showing greater moral clarity than key Democratic leaders of Congress.”

This alliance was further exemplified by conspiracy theorist Candace Owens, who shared a post stating, “There is absolutely no justification for attacking Iran.
The only country we should be attacking is Israel.” These narratives stands in stark contrast to the Iranians on the ground who are filming themselves thanking Israel for their newfound hope of freedom.

The Twelver in the City: Zohran Mamdani
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a prominent member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has also drawn scrutiny for his condemnation of the operation. Several years ago, Mamdani publicly identified as a “Twelver” (Ithna-Asheri) — the same Shia sect that forms the theological backbone of the Iranian regime. Following the launch of Operation Epic Fury, he stated that “Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.” The DSA, for its part, officially maintains stated that it “Stands against Imperialist War and with the Iranian People.”
Maoist Millionaires and The People’s Forum
The most organized opposition comes from The People’s Forum, an organization heavily funded by Neville Roy Singham, a tech mogul with documented links to Chinese Communist Party propaganda networks. Multiple congressional offices have called for an investigation into Singham’s network for its alleged links to the Chinese government. The People’s Forum has been organizing rallies to “defend Iran,” framing the death of Khamenei as a loss for the “global south.”

The Radical Fringe: From CODEPINK to Calla Walsh to Campus
The ANSWER Coalition has called for a National Day of Action on March 2, 2026 that, according to the event’s promotional material, will involve a coordinated protest effort in major cities around the world organized alongside American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), CODEPINK, and The People’s Forum. You can find the list of protests here. CODEPINK, long criticized for its sympathetic view of authoritarian regimes, stated in response to Epic Fury that “Feminists must oppose U.S. Imperialism.”
Meanwhile, radical anti-Israel activist Calla Walsh openly called for the “complete dismantling of the US and Israel” as “the only real justice” for Khamenei’s death.

Over on campus, the Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) coalition posted “Death to America” on X in Farsi.
Similarly, the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) released the statement, saying: “Israel and the United States have declared war on Iran. From the belly of the beast, we say: Hands off Iran, hands off our region!” the Iranians celebrating the same event as a new dawn for human rights.
