Please consider avoiding using the term Pro-Palestine, or anything that begins with "pro" to describe these hate mobs. Why? I find Jonathan Haidt’s Elephant and Rider model really useful for thinking about this. It explains why using the term “pro-Palestinian” is counterproductive.
The Elephant is fast, emotional, and associative. The Rider is slow, analytical, and rationalizes after the fact. People’s judgments are always driven by the Elephant first (see also the book by the Israeli-American psychologist Daniel Kahneman, "Thinking, Fast and Slow")
When the Elephant hears terms like "pro-Palestinian,” it immediately registers a humanitarian signal: supporting an oppressed people. That emotional framing kicks in before any critical analysis happens.
At that point, the Rider isn’t evaluating the movement neutrally, it’s already trying to justify a morally positive frame. That’s how these labels grant automatic moral cover. From a messaging standpoint, this is disastrous. We’re letting the hate movement control the Elephant’s reaction by repeating its preferred branding.
Our goal is to cue the "Elephant" differently and force the Rider to engage with the movement’s actual behavior instead of rationalizing its self-image (or, as Kahneman would describe it: we want "System 1", the fast, instinctive and emotional system to stop; and "System 2", the slower, more deliberative, and more logical system to kick in).
If they were, they’d stand against Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and their weapon-providing patron, Islamic Iran. They’d stand with Israeli-Palestinian groups working tirelessly for peace. These groups are PRO-HAMAS,
pro-gang rape, torture, amputation, burning families alive, shooting down hundreds of young peaceniks dancing on Simchat Torah. There are YOGA teachers in Vermont (practically owned by Arab Oil money) who share on social media: “Rape is resistance.” Yoga teachers!!! When their daughters are raped by minority men claiming ‘resistance’ to ‘white privilege’ (which these New England Protestant Progressives all claim as their guilty burden), will they rally around that, too? After all, Eldridge Cleaver made that argument decades ago - raping a white woman as political (not sexually criminal) act. Let’s see if these white progressives still sing that song when it hits them. Israeli girls and women are an ideological abstraction to them. As are the women and girls of Iran. Where is the well funded, globally organized movement to “Free Iran?!” If not for Iran impoverishing their own people to supply mega weapons to Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, etc, there’d not have been an October 7 nor the Gaza war that followed. The ceasefire was doing fine until 6:29am on 10/7/23. That day was the trigger for the real plan - October 8 - worldwide Jew hatred dressed up as anti-Israelism. Thousands of expensive cloth banners. Millions of keffiahs overnight. Even Amazon doesn’t work that fast. And that moronic letter at Harvard - signed by 33 brainwashed student groups - just sitting on a shelf ready for the morning after 10/7. Qatari billions for decades have infiltrated every major academic, cultural and media institution.
Hopefully, when this happens, people can listen to voices such as Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, an activist from Gaza and founder of Realign for Palestine, who said: "Hamas, inspired by nihilistic jihadi ideology which is worse than any other motivational ethos in history, genuinely and sincerely does not care about the consequences even if the entirety of the Gaza Strip is wiped out… And yet, there are still masses of delusional co-players, ill-informed ‘activists,’ and supposed ‘allies’ of the Palestinian people who refuse to see this and think what’s happening in Gaza is simply and exclusively a function of Israeli policies and actions, entirely ignoring Hamas and removing its central role in this catastrophe...by that, the ‘pro-Palestine’ movement outside of Gaza has devolved into one of the most anti-Palestinian groups of people I have ever encountered” https://x.com/afalkhatib/status/1857501732168937844
