Meet BreakThrough News, the Chinese-Linked Media Platform Radicalizing Americans
Denying the Uyghur genocide, praising October 7th, and portraying the U.S. as fundamentally racist — these are just some of the narratives frequently promoted by BreakThrough News
The new investigative report published yesterday by Jewish Onliner has exposed a sophisticated influence network operating from a single Manhattan address, where three interconnected organizations work to promote Chinese Communist Party narratives while undermining American interests.
One of these organizations is BreakThrough News (BTN), a nonprofit media organization that has emerged as a key propaganda vehicle for anti-American and pro-terror messaging.

Operating under the guise of independent journalism, BTN shares its headquarters at 320 West 37th Street with The People's Forum and 1804 Books—a physical arrangement that reflects deeper operational and ideological ties. While BTN presents itself as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on social media content, the organization functions as part of a larger network funded by Neville Roy Singham, an American businessman based in Shanghai with documented ties to Chinese Communist Party officials.

Promoting the Chinese Communist Party's Agenda
BTN's content systematically advances pro-China narratives while depicting the United States as a declining imperial power. The organization's approach is sophisticated, wrapping Chinese propaganda in progressive language that appeals to American audiences skeptical of U.S. foreign policy.
The media outlet regularly produces content that counters what it calls "Sinophobic propaganda" and "racist stereotypes" against China. This messaging strategy consistently frames China as an emerging positive force while portraying America as oppressive and irredeemably racist.
Notable examples include a video titled "IShowspeed's Visit to China Breaks the Propaganda Barrier," which used the popular online streamer's positive experience in China to counter negative perceptions of the country. BTN's ongoing series "The China Report" consistently presents Chinese initiatives—including BRICS cooperation and Belt & Road expansion—in favorable terms while criticizing U.S. trade policies as destructive.
Another concerning example is BTN host Rania Khalek's denial of the genocide of Uyghurs in China, a well-documented genocide recognized by numerous international bodies. Khalek has also been described as an apologist for Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, demonstrating a pattern of defending authoritarian regimes aligned with Chinese interests.
Anti-Israel Activism and Terror Apologism
BTN dedicates disproportionate coverage to the Israel-Hamas conflict, consistently framing the narrative to delegitimize Israel and American support for the Jewish state. This focus aligns with broader Chinese strategic interests in weakening U.S. influence in the Middle East.
The organization's anti-Israel bias became particularly evident after the Hamas-led October 7th massacre. For example, in July 2024, BTN published a video titled "Why China is Mediating Among Palestinians, and Why the U.S. Hates It." This content attempted to position China as a responsible global mediator while suggesting that the U.S. and Israel were becoming increasingly isolated internationally.

In March 2025, BTN co-produced "The Encampments," a documentary that glorified the phenomenon of pro-Hamas campus protests that erupted on American university campuses in the Spring of 2024. According to a Washington Free Beacon report, Singham's network was directly involved in organizing these protests, which were characterized not only as anti-Israel but as anti-American and anti-democratic.
The documentary featured individuals who have defended or praised Hamas, including BTN's own editor-in-chief Ben Becker, who justified Hamas' October 7 massacre as an act of "national liberation against colonialism." The film also prominently featured Sueda Polat, a leader of Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), which declared that "violence is the only path forward." CUAD is currently being sued for allegedly "aiding and abetting Hamas."
Ties to the Party for Socialism and Liberation
BTN's connections extend to the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a Marxist-Leninist organization that advocates for revolutionary socialism and the overthrow of American capitalism and democracy.
PSL gained national attention when one of its alleged members, Elias Rodriguez, was charged with murdering two Israeli Embassy employees at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. on May 21, 2025. Several key BTN figures hold prominent positions within PSL:
Karla Reyes serves as BTN's Media Chair and Director while simultaneously acting as a Central Committee member of PSL. She was also the 2024 vice-presidential candidate on the PSL ticket.
Eugene Puryear, a BTN host and founding PSL member, exemplifies the network's embrace of terrorism. Following Hamas' October 7 massacre, Puryear praised the attackers, stating "There was some sort of rave or desert party where they were having a great time until the resistance came in electrified hang gliders and took at least several dozen hipsters," referring to the brutal massacre committed by Palestinian terrorists at the Nova Music Festival.
A Coordinated Influence Campaign
BreakThrough News represents more than just another radical left-wing media outlet—it functions as a sophisticated propaganda operation designed to advance Chinese interests while radicalizing young Americans against their own country. By combining pro-China messaging with progressive causes like racial justice and anti-war activism, BTN creates content that appears grassroots while actually serving foreign strategic objectives.
The organization's physical co-location with The People's Forum and 1804 Books, combined with shared funding from Singham and overlapping leadership with revolutionary socialist organizations, reveals a coordinated campaign to undermine American institutions and values.
