The Gaza Health Ministry's Director General is Part and Parcel of Hamas
You can tell a lot about Muneer Alboursh by the company he keeps
In November 2023, investigative journalist David Collier revealed that Muneer Alboursh, the Director General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, openly supports Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. In addition to Mr. Collier’s important findings, other examples of posts on Alboursh’s Facebook page demonstrate his deeper involvement with the group, which is far surprising, as the ministry itself is run by Hamas.
Presenting Hamas Award in Gaza
A telling piece of evidence is a photograph of Alboursh presenting an award to the director of the Jabalia Police Station. The award prominently features the Hamas logo, clearly establishing Alboursh as a representative of the terror group.
Celebrating the Al-Qassam Brigades
In June 2023, he commemorated Ayman Mansour, a former commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, praising him as a “great leader.” Earlier, in January 2020, Alboursh shared a post featuring himself with two Hamas militants in military fatigues. Albroush claimed that they were released from imprisonment by Israel and stated, “Do you wonder what angered the Jews about your release? I think it was your beautiful smiles.”
Featured with Hamas and PIJ Spokesmen and Praising the “Al-Aqsa Flood”
Alboursh participated in a Zoom event titled “The Flood of the Nation in Support of the Resistance” during Al-Quds Global Week. Sharing the platform with Hamas spokesperson Musa Abu Marzouk and Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Muhammad al-Hindi, he praised Gaza’s resilience, stating that the people are “steadfast and do not care about those who oppose and let them down.”
Alboursh’s ties to Hamas underscore concerns about the group’s influence over Gaza’s healthcare system, especially with recent allegations such as Kamal Adwan Hospital’s director being a Hamas colonel and the Hamas-run Health Ministry inflating casualty figures. These findings cast a long shadow about the integrity of supposed humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
