Charlotte Kates and Calla Walsh Speak at Samidoun-Organized Event Alongside Terror Officials
The November 29th event in Beirut, Lebanon also featured Khaled Barakat of the PFLP and Palestinian Islamic Jihad's Saif al-Din Maw’ed

Samidoun, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and Canada, organized an event on November 29 in Beirut’s southern suburbs to mark the ‘International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People’. The gathering brought together Western pro-Palestinian activists and officials of U.S.-designated terror groups.
The event featured Charlotte Kates, international coordinator of Samidoun, and Calla Walsh, co-founder of Palestine Action US—whose British counterpart was proscribed as a terrorist organization by the UK government in July 2025. Both activists have previously traveled to Iran and Lebanon to participate in anti-Israel and anti-U.S. events. Walsh was photographed speaking before a podium displaying an image of Yahya Sinwar, the slain Hamas leader who masterminded the October 7 massacre.

Terror Group Leadership in Attendance
The event also featured Khaled Barakat, a member of the U.S.-designated terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) who serves in the group’s leadership abroad. Barakat is also designated by the United States.

Alongside him was Saif al-Din Maw’ed, Director General of Palestine Today Channel, a media outlet widely recognized as affiliated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), another U.S.-designated terror group. Al-Alam News, Iranian state media, reported in March 2012 that Maw’ed served as “Media Relations Offical for the Islamic Jihad Movement.” In 2021, al-Din Maw’ed was pictured alongside former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, during his visit to the Palestine Today TV headquarters in Beirut.

The Baheth Center for Palestinian and Strategic Studies documented his attendance at a 2020 conference where he was listed as “Executive Director of Palestine Today Television” alongside other Islamic Jihad officials. Maw’ed has publicly stated that his channel operates under the slogan “The Channel of All Palestine” and serves as a platform for “Palestinian resistance”—widely understood as a euphemism for terrorism.
Mohammed al-Hajj Musa, a spokesman for Palestinian Islamic Jihad, was also present at the gathering.

Kates’ Rhetoric Praising Hamas
During the event, Kates delivered a speech referring to Hamas terrorists as “brave fighters in Rafah,” explicitly praising the designated terror group’s operatives. She also claimed that Israel would be “powerless in the face of the resistance if not for the weapons and military support and surveillance drones and spy planes provided by Britain, Germany, Canada, France, Italy, and all of the imperialist powers,” framing her narrative in explicitly anti-American and anti-Canadian terms.

Evidence for Terror Charges Against Kates Submitted in Canada
Kates’s appearance at the Beirut event alongside officials from multiple U.S.-designated terrorist organizations coincides with a formal submission in Canada. Previously, Brodie swore an information before a Justice of the Peace, stating the grounds for alleging that Charlotte Kates committed terrorism offences. On November 29, 2025, Dallas Brodie, Leader of One BC and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Vancouver-Quilchena, submitted evidence to support terrorism charges against Charlotte Kates to Sean Fraser, Canada’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
In a statement to Jewish Onliner, Brodie called it “a civilizational issue,” emphasizing that “Canada has allowed itself to become a launching pad for several terrorist movements, including Samidoun, reflecting cynical political calculations by unprincipled leadership.”
Brodie stressed that while she has “always advocated for the state of Israel, recognizing its importance given the historical persecution of peaceful Jewish communities,” the threat extends far beyond any single community.
“Glorification of terrorists and promotion of terrorist activities may affect some communities more than others, but this is an attack on Canada as a whole and part of a global movement to undermine all Western democracies,” she said.
“The necessity of charging individuals like Charlotte Kates, Samidoun’s Director, is so obvious for the maintenance of peace and civility in this country that it is inexplicable that it fell to me to take this step,”
Brodie added. “I am deeply embarrassed by the lack of federal and provincial leadership on this. I am doing everything I can to ensure that the threat of terrorism is addressed swiftly and decisively wherever it rears its ugly head.”
