Qatar Hosts American Influencers Alongside Qatari Royal Who Praised Oct. 7th Mastermind
Doha tech conference brings together suspended streamer Hasan Piker and Sheikha Moza, who eulogized former Hamas leader and Oct 7th mastermind Yahya Sinwar

Web Summit Qatar, taking place from February 1-4, 2026 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, brings together numerous international entrepreneurs, celebrities, investors, and tech leaders to Qatar's capital. But the speaker lineup reveals a troubling convergence of Western social media personalities, pro-Palestine tech activists, and Qatari royals with documented ties to extremist ideology. Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, a key speaker, has openly praised former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
Just days after Web Summit concludes, the Al Jazeera Center for Studies will host its annual 17th Al Jazeera Forum from February 7-9, featuring Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi among its speakers.
The back-to-back conferences appear to illustrate Qatar's strategy of convening Western pro-Palestine influencers and tech entrepreneurs under the banner of innovation one week, while gathering terror officials the next—all within the same capital city.
Banned Streamer and UpScrolled Founder Among Speakers
Among the featured speakers is Hasan Piker, the far-left political commentator who was recently suspended from Twitch for spreading anti-Israel conspiracy theories and making antisemitic remarks. Piker attempted to link U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to Israel, posting that the Jewish state had assisted the Department of Homeland Security in implementing a “censorship regime” to label Americans as “domestic terrorists” based on their opposition to Israel and ICE.

In profanity-laden posts, Piker attacked what he called “Israel-first monsters” and “rabid ultra-Zionist pigs,” demanding critics stop questioning why he connected immigration enforcement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The incident marked his seventh suspension from the streaming platform.
Also speaking at the summit is Issam Hijazi, founder of UpScrolled, the social media app that has surged to No. 2 among free apps in Apple’s U.S. App Store. As Jewish Onliner previously reported, UpScrolled bills itself as a “no censorship” alternative to Instagram and TikTok, but the platform erases Israel from its location and discovery systems, labeling searches for Israel and Israeli cities under “Occupied Palestine” or “Occupied Palestinian Territories.”
On the events’ speaker page, Hijazi is positioned alongside Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscoring the prominence given to the UpScrolled founder at the state-backed event.

Tech for Palestine Founder Joins Conference
Paul Biggar, CEO of Tech for Palestine and co-founder of billion-dollar startup CircleCI, is another featured speaker. Tech for Palestine serves as a pro-Palestinian advocacy incubator that supported UpScrolled’s development, according to the organization’s website.
Just one week before Web Summit Qatar, on January 24, 2026, Tech for Palestine hosted its own summit at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. As Jewish Onliner documented, that event featured Hijazi and other pro-Palestinian influencers, with the primary sponsor being CAIR Action, the political arm of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. CAIR Action itself faces substantial legal challenges and scrutiny over unlicensed political operations across 22 states and alleged foreign government alignment with Turkey.
Jewish Onliner’s investigation into Tech for Palestine revealed connections to alleged terror-linked groups and networks including the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) National Committee.

Summit Features Qatari Royal Who Praised Hamas Leader Behind October 7th Massacre
The Web Summit brings these Western influencers and tech activists together with members of Qatar’s royal family, including Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation and mother of Qatar’s current emir.
Following the Israel Defense Forces' elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar—the mastermind of the October 7th massacre—Sheikha Moza posted on X: "The name Yahya means the one who lives. They thought him dead but he lives. Like his namesake, Yahya bin Zakariya, he will live on and they will be gone."
