PYM Panel in UK to Feature Official of Israeli-Designated Hamas Front
PYM Britain will host Ahmed Alnaouq, an officer of Euro-Med, an Israeli-designated Hamas front. His brothers served in Hamas’s military wing and Hamas-run Gaza government.

The Palestinian Youth Movement’s British branch will hold a tribute panel in central London on Friday, Aug. 14, featuring Ahmed Alnaouq, the Outreach and Advocacy Officer for the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor. In March 2015, Israel designated the organization under the name Euro-Mid Observer for Human Rights as an unauthorized association. The same list records “Euro-Med” and “Euro- Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor” as alternate names. A May 2026 Israeli government report separately alleged that the organization maintains ties to Hamas. The event is dedicated to Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif, whom Israel identified as a Hamas operative and rocket-cell commander before eliminating him in a targeted airstrike last year.
The three-hour event, titled “Bearing Witness,” is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Palestine House, a cultural center at 113 High Holborn. Government food-business records identify the venue as Yoforia Group C.I.C. trading as Palestine House. Companies House lists Yoforia as an active community interest company limited by guarantee, a structure intended to benefit the community rather than private owners.
The panel’s announced speakers are Ahmed Alnaouq of Palestine Deep Dive, Al Jazeera journalist and media researcher Mariam Al-Sayeh, former Gaza-based Guardian reporter Malak Tantesh and, according to a subsequent announcement, Abubaker Abed.
The organizers describe the gathering as a commemoration of al-Sharif and more than 309 “martyred journalists” in Palestine, Lebanon and the wider region. According to the event listing, a traveling exhibition created by organizers at the University of Edinburgh is also scheduled to appear.
Alnaouq Holds Official Role at Israeli-Designated Hamas Front Euro-Med
Euro-Med’s own website identifies Alnaouq as its Outreach and Advocacy Officer. He is also a co-founder of We Are Not Numbers, a Gaza-focused storytelling and advocacy project. WANN states that it is registered in Gaza under the umbrella of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor and fiscally sponsored in the United States by Nonviolence International. The American sponsor also confirms that Euro-Med provided the project with early logistical support.
Israel’s official counterterrorism list records “Euro-Mid Observer for Human Rights,” “Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor” and “Euro-Med” together under a March 2015 declaration as an unauthorized association. A May 2026 Israeli government report alleged that Euro-Med operates across legal forums, media and digital platforms, including through material supplied to South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
WANN was created after the death of Alnaouq’s brother, Ayman. A 2015 account published by WANN co-founder Pam Bailey reproduced Ahmed Alnaouq’s description of Ayman joining Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, after the 2012 Gaza conflict. Ayman was eliminated in an Israeli strike in 2014.
NGO Monitor reports, citing a GnasherJew investigation, that another of Alnaouq’s brothers, Muhammad, headed the Department of the Holy Quran in Gaza’s Hamas-run Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Taken together, Ayman’s service in the Al-Qassam Brigades and Muhammad’s government position document immediate family connections to both Hamas’s military wing and its governing administration in Gaza.
Added Speaker Praised “Resistance Fighters”
Abubaker Abed, added after the initial listing, has paired journalistic work with explicit support for armed Palestinian “resistance”, a euphemism for Hamas. In a May 2026 essay, Abed wrote that he supported “the resistance fighters every chance I could.” In an October 2024 post, he claimed that the Al-Qassam Brigades killed only Israeli soldiers, despite extensive documentation of killings and abductions of civilians on Oct. 7, 2023.
His record previously triggered institutional scrutiny in Britain. A planned October 2025 appearance at Cambridge University was canceled after posts surfaced in which Abed referred to members of Hamas as “resistance fighters” and called Oct. 7 a “great day.” The Department for Education’s counterterrorism team also contacted the university to raise concerns about the event.
Tribute Forms Part of International Media Campaign
The London panel is one event in PYM’s Aug. 10 to 16 international “week of action” honoring al-Sharif. In its campaign statement, the movement called on activists in the United States, Canada and Britain to pressure Western news organizations, organize boycotts and help destabilize “the narrative pillar that upholds Zionism.”
Palestine House describes itself as a cultural and community hub where “creativity meets advocacy.” The venue says it has hosted more than 500 events and received more than 150,000 visitors. At the center of its Aug. 14 program is an attempt to portray al-Sharif as simply a journalist killed for his work while omitting captured records that Israel says identified him as a Hamas rocket-cell commander and Nukhba Force member.
