On October 10, 2025, a media outlet tied to an alleged pro-ISIS Dearborn preacher released a video celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The video described Kirk’s murder as “praiseworthy” and “justified by Sharia,” coming one month after the political commentator was fatally shot at Utah Valley University according to the Middle East Media and Research Institute (MEMRI).
Video Calls Killing “Deserved Death According to Sharia”
The 39-minute video is titled “The Fate of Charlie Kirk: The Insulter of the Messenger and His Ruling According to Islam.” It was produced by Project Guiding Light, a media platform affiliated with Ahmad Musa Jibril. Jibril is a pro-ISIS cleric based in Dearborn, identified as one of the most influential radical preachers in the Western world. The video declares that Kirk “deserved death” according to Islamic law. It urges Muslims to “rejoice and thank Allah” for his killing.
In the video distributed across social media, Project Guiding Light labeled Kirk as “this dog” and described his assassination as a “praiseworthy action.” The outlet justifies the killing by showing a clip of Kirk stating that the Prophet Muhammad married a six-year-old, then launches into extensive citations from early Islamic texts celebrating what it calls “vigilante justice.”
Jibril’s Documented Influence on Western Jihadists
Ahmad Musa Jibril’s influence in radicalizing Western jihadists has been well-documented for over a decade. A 2014 study by King’s College London identified Jibril as one of the top preachers influencing Western jihadist fighters, with a substantial amount of foreign fighters tracked in Syria following him on Twitter. He was described as the most “liked” figure among monitored foreign fighters during that period.
Jibril’s background includes a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence for conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, and possession of firearms and ammunition. A 2015 VICE profile described him as a convicted fraudster who told followers “when your brothers in Syria speak, everybody today shut their mouth and listen because they’re proving themselves real men.”
Radicalization in Plain Sight
The enthusiastic embrace of Kirk’s murder by a pro-terror outlet highlights how acts of political violence are exploited by extremist movements to further their agendas. Despite explicitly celebrating an American citizen’s murder and calling for Muslims to rejoice over the assassination, the video remains accessible on YouTube and other mainstream platforms.
