"Make Iran Great Again" Hashtag Goes Viral Following Trump's Post
The #MIGA hashtag—sparked by a post from President Trump over the weekend—went viral in Farsi and largely within Iran, reflecting a widespread desire for change among the Iranian public
The hashtag #MIGA, short for "Make Iran Great Again," exploded in popularity following a post by former President Donald Trump on June 22, 2025, where he called for the revitalization of Iran. Trump's post was a direct reference to the slogan that has defined his own presidency and the movement that grew out of it. The hashtag quickly gained traction, predominantly in Farsi and largely within Iran, reflecting an apparent widespread desire for political change among the Iranian public.

The Popularity of #MIGA Within Iran
A social media analysis conducted by Jewish Onliner has found that between June 22-23, the hashtag was featured in 1.9 million posts, generating 9.6 million interactions, and a potential view count of 537.7 million.
Notably, 79% of the posts using the hashtag were made in Farsi, and 74% of them originated from within Iran. This suggests that the hashtag is a genuine organic movement sprouting from within Iran. Despite the Iranian government's efforts to shut down the internet in large parts of the country, alternative methods such as Starlink and VPNs may have allowed users to access social media and participate in the conversation.
While the hashtag does not directly advocate for regime change in Iran, its popularity speaks to a broader desire among the Iranian public to see improvements in their country. However, whether this online movement will translate into tangible action remains uncertain, as the ball is now in the Iranian people’s court.
