Hamas-Linked Operatives Join Global Palestine Alliance Launch in London
The Global Alliance for Palestine conference in London, chaired by Jeremy Corbyn, united delegates and attendees with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood to push for coordinated political action
The inaugural conference of the Global Alliance for Palestine (GAFP) was convened in London on July 26, 2025, and brought together delegates from over 25 countries alongside several individuals with documented ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
The initiative, chaired by former UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, frames itself as a movement to transform global solidarity for Palestinians into coordinated political action. This gathering represents one of the latest examples of terror-linked individuals exploiting seemingly legitimate political forums to gain mainstream influence and acceptance.

The conference featured several political figures including Italian MP Angelo Bonelli, spokesperson for "Green Europe," and former Irish Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams, who participated via video conference. Also present were former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, South African former Minister of Home Affairs Ronnie Kasrils, and Reverend Frank Chikane, President of the “International Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid.” Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative and member of the GAFP steering committee, was also among the conference leaders.

Documented Hamas-Links of Event Attendees
Zaher Birawi, officially designated by the Israeli Ministry of Defense as a main Hamas operative in Europe, was pictured attending the event. UK Labour MP Christian Wakeford specifically named Birawi in Parliament as a key Hamas operative residing in London in October 2023. The European Leadership Network (ELNET) has described him as "one of the most prominent Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated operatives in the UK."
Birawi is also the head of the International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza (ICBSG), which has coordinated flotillas attempting to reach Gaza, including the one that activist Greta Thunberg was on. At the conference, Birawi appeared alongside Adnan Hmidan, the chairman of the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB), another organization allegedly part of the UK Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas support infrastructure.

Ziad El-Aloul, another alleged Hamas-linked operative in Europe who is an official at the Palestinian Forum in Britain & the Hamas-designated Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, also attended. El-Aloul has marched alongside Jeremy Corbyn in pro-Hamas demonstrations in London and has publicly celebrated the October 7th attacks, describing them as a "moment of glory" and the beginning of a "bright era" for Palestine.

In Jan 2023, El-Aloul was part of a delegation to Lebanon that included numerous terror officials from UK-designated terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), as well as officials from the U.S.-designated Popular Front for the Liberation Palestine (PFLP). He was also pictured next to Ahmed Abd al-Hadi, a Hamas representative in Lebanon.

Event attendee Mohammed Kozbar, chairman of Finsbury Park Mosque, added to these concerns as he also met with former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and visited the grave of Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin to pay respects.

Another speaker at the event, Shamiul Joarder, is the spokesperson of the organization Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA), an anti-Israeli NGO established in Britain in 1997. The founder of FOA, Ismail Patel, took part in the Mavi Marmara flotilla in May 2010 and in the Miles of Smiles 3 convoy in June 2011, whose leaders met with Ismail Haniyeh.
Conference Leadership & Attendees Embedded in Extremist Networks
The conference's organizational leadership further amplifies these concerns. Dr. Anas Altikriti, Chair of the GAFP Preparatory Committee and the conference convenor, is CEO and founder of the Cordoba Foundation, a UK-based think tank designated as a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates in 2014.
Altikriti has been described as "a key spokesman and lobbyist for the Brotherhood in Britain" and has personally acknowledged his Muslim Brotherhood connections, stating in a 2005 interview: "My family is Muslim Brotherhood."
Even Western media personalities at the event have shown concerning connections and made statements in support of designated terrorists. Irish comedian Tadhg Hickey and Brazilian activist Thiago Avila both recently attended the funeral of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon, with Hickey publicly referring to the designated terrorist leader as "iconic."
Why These Connections Matter
The GAFP conference exemplifies a disturbing trend where individuals with documented terrorist ties operate within ostensibly legitimate political forums. This gathering adds to a troubling pattern highlighted in a May 2025 investigation by Israel's Channel 12 news that revealed Britain has become a central hub for Hamas operations outside Gaza.
When figures who have praised terrorist attacks or maintained relationships with terrorist leaders are welcomed alongside mainstream politicians, it normalizes extremist viewpoints and creates concerning precedents. The presence of multiple Hamas-linked individuals at an event chaired by a former UK party leader significantly shifts the boundaries of acceptable political association.
This strategic blurring between legitimate advocacy and extremism creates spaces where radical positions gain wider acceptance—a growing challenge for democratic societies attempting to maintain clear boundaries against terrorist influence in political discourse.
