Greta Thunberg Sailing with Terror Ties in New Flotilla Initiative
Greta Thunberg joins the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, in late August. Its leaders’ alleged ties to Hamas and PFLP cast doubt on the mission’s claimed humanitarian aims
Greta Thunberg is once again at the center of controversy, not for her climate activism, but for her recent affiliation in the latest, Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF). The GSF is set to depart from Spain and Tunisia and sail to Gaza by the end of August and early September.
While Thunberg presents her involvement as a humanitarian mission, her association with this flotilla movement, exposes deeply troubling ties to individuals and organizations allegedly linked to internationally designated terror groups, including Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
Steering Committee: Who are Thunberg’s Allies?
A past Jewish Onliner investigation revealed that the Global Sumud Flotilla’s steering committee, includes multiple figures with alleged ties to Hamas, the PFLP, and other extremist groups.

Among them is Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri, a Malaysian activist who has funneled funds to Hamas-run institutions and been photographed with senior Hamas officials. Wael Nawar, who has openly associated with officials of Hamas, the PFLP, PIJ, and Hezbollah. Marouan Ben Guettaia, met with the Hamas representative in Algeria to discuss flotilla efforts. Lastly, Saif Abukeshek, holds positions in European organizations operating as alleged Hamas front groups.

These connections underscore that the flotilla’s leadership has notable associations with officials from U.S.-designated terror groups, casting serious doubt on its purportedly “humanitarian” mission.
Thunberg’s Role and the Latest Flotilla
After being deported from Israel following her last flotilla attempt, Thunberg stopped in Paris, where she was interviewed by a reporter who asked if she could give a clear example of how she had been mistreated by Israel. Her response was telling: “I’d rather not go into details.” This interaction highlights the broader issue—the flotilla missions are less about humanitarian aid and more about public relations stunts designed to discredit Israel.
This perspective aligns with the comments made by Zaher Birawi, a key figure in the flotilla movement, who has been officially designated by the Israeli Ministry of Defense as a leading Hamas operative in Europe. Birawi is also the head of the International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza (ICBSG), an organization that has coordinated several flotilla attempts.
In the past, Birawi openly stated that the primary purpose of the flotillas was not to deliver aid, but to raise awareness and discredit Israel through political and media campaigns designed to tarnish the country’s image on the world stage.
Thunberg’s participation in this initiative thus raises serious questions about her role in a movement that, while presenting itself as a nonviolent humanitarian mission, has long been driven by political agendas and associations with extremist groups.
I’d be very interested to know if Greta has been in communication with agents of Hamas as part of a direct coordination (which would be both immoral and illegal).
That said…
If you want to help the people of Gaza, work WITH Israel and the American aid group to ensure it goes to the people, not to a terrorist group.
Well said.
I'd love to see her interviewed by Douglas Murray.
