Anti-Zionist Congress in Vienna Features Pro-Terror and Antisemitic Speakers
In June, Vienna will host the First "Jewish" Anti-Zionist Congress, featuring speakers known for pro-terror and antisemitic views. The event pushes revisionist history and calls for the end of Israel.
From June 13 to 15, 2025, the First “Jewish” Anti-Zionist Congress will be hosted in Vienna, organized by a group called the Association “For Democracy and Human Rights in Palestine.” The event brings together speakers who, under the guise of Palestinian activism, advocate for the destruction of the state of Israel. The event urges “joining forces with Palestinians and allies in the struggle against Zionism,” calling Zionism “a crime against Judaism and the indigenous people of Palestine.” Many scheduled speakers for the event have alleged ties to designated terrorist organizations and have openly expressed support for them.
Vienna holds a significant place in Zionist history, often regarded as a center for the movement’s early development. Hosting an event branded as the “First Jewish Anti-Zionist Congress” here is therefore deeply symbolic. However, the claim that this is a Jewish congress is misleading, as many of the featured speakers are not Jewish, calling into question the legitimacy and true purpose of the gathering. This disconnect underscores how the conference seeks to appropriate Jewish identity to push a radical anti-Israel agenda.

Speakers Linked to Terrorism and Extremism
Ramzy Baroud, editor of the U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit 'The Palestine Chronicle,' faces a lawsuit related to former Israeli hostages held by one of the outlet’s Gaza employees after the October 7, 2023 attacks. Baroud celebrated the Hamas massacre on social media and has shared images glorifying PFLP terrorists on his personal Facebook. He is a senior fellow at the Turkish Center for Islam and Global Affairs, led by Sami Al-Arian, previously convicted for financing Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a U.S.-designated terror group.

Rima Hassan, a French-Syrian-Palestinian Member of the European Parliament, was denied entry to Israel in February 2025. She is known for promoting conspiracy theories about Israel and has referred to the October 7 massacre as “legitimate.” Hassan stated that Palestinians should be allowed to join “armed resistance against Israel” if French citizens are allowed to serve in the IDF. She has also visited Georges Ibrahim Abdallah in his cell, a convicted PFLP terrorist serving a life sentence in prison.

Lamis Deek, attorney and New York representative for Al-Awda, made a speech in 2022, in which she called Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PFLP, and Iranian Al-Quds force “freedom fighters.” In 2017, Deek was listed as a board member of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2016, Deek praised a Palestinian terrorist responsible for killing Israeli civilians.

Awad Abdelfattah, former secretary general of the Democratic National Party in Israel, met with PFLP leaders in Jenin in 2014 to discuss coordinating “resistance” efforts, a euphemism for terrorism.

Roshan Dadoo, Coordinator of the South African BDS Coalition and member of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, was pictured at an anti-Israel protest alongside demonstrators holding Hezbollah flags.

Revisionist Attempt to Erode the Foundations of Zionism
The congress attempts to serve as a platform to erode the foundations of Zionism by promoting a revisionist history and endorsing the goal of “putting an end to Zionism.” Featuring speakers who espouse support for designated terror groups and antisemitic rhetoric, the event aims to delegitimize Israel’s right to exist. Presenting this agenda as Jewish anti-Zionism distorts historical truth and Jewish identity while threatening Israel’s security and legitimacy.
